Business Partner: Founded in 1997, WIRD Group is a leading solution provider for IT infrastructure, cloud services, and security solutions. It provides on-premise and customized as-a-Service solutions for clients all over Switzerland.

Knowing the client’s infrastructure and requirements, it turned out that the Storware solution would perfectly fit this model – therefore it was our recommendation. Storware vProtect has proven to be a very flexible tool that can successfully connect RHV and IBM SP.  Additionally, Storware support helps to optimize the implementation process and the selection of the best backup strategy for a given infrastructure. This is important especially for large environments.

After a series of tests with Storware engineers, SSH transfer turned out to be the most optimal backup strategy for our environment. This was the result of a direct comparison with the Disk-Attachment backup strategy.

Another advantage of vProtect was that it offered several installation scenarios. In this case, the possibility of using the Ansible Playbook was a hit. It has been slightly modified to suit the needs of the client’s environment. This method turned out to be very effective and problem-free.

For large virtualization environments, the ability to automate the implementation of the solution, test and select the best backup strategies, and the lack of vendor blockade when it comes to introducing changes to the data center is important in terms of resource management and planning. Overall, the implementation was 100% successful.

For hypervisors based on open source oVirt (RHV and Oracle Linux VM), there is an additional possibility of UI integration with the vProtect console. This is another valuable functionality that improves platform management.
