Storware allows to backup of KVM (and several other KVM-based platforms including OpenStack, oVirt/RHV, Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager). Different set of features for each platform. Check HERE

Schedules in Storware can be shared among policies. You define schedule for a particular policy type (and optionally backup type). You can use both time-based scheduling (specific hour) and interval based (every X minutes).

Storware’s scheduling process offers extensive customization and flexibility, allowing for specific backup intervals, custom policies, and advanced automation features. This contrasts with Acronis, which primarily focuses on simpler, more predefined scheduling options. Storware’s tight integration with its data management platform enables seamless backup task management and monitoring, providing a more robust and adaptable scheduling system.

Yes, we support both – Networker and Avamar.

If you are interested in backup of endpoints we can deliver you the integration with IBM Spectrum protect. It allows to store the data with IBM SP and use all the features it offers. But Storware is not integrated with IBM SP. It stores data on variety of file systems only.

Storware provides access by API, and command line. You can trigger Storware by API or command line to execute a backup/restore/mount job and hide Storware under other solutions. But Storware right now does not support storing data directly to ARCserve, Commvault and Veeam.

– Depends where you plan to store backups. If you plan to store more backups in “cloud” then you don’t process to deduplicate/rededuplicate data before you send it to the cloud.

– If you plan to store backups on VDO, then you can use the same volume for staging and backup destination.

If POD have persistent storage other then CEPH RBD then Pod is paused for backup process. In other way the backuped data will be inconsistent. If Pod have data on ceph RBD volume then we do snapshot of that volume and POD is not paused.

Yes.

For VDO we set only one block device. Check a document where is described how prepare volume for VDO to put “database” on fast storage: (Page 51, Example 5.1)

Yes – for KVM we do support file level restore (mountable backups) as well as incremental backup.

Yes, we support VSNAP.

You can find the details about Kubernetes backup process here, at the end of the article HERE

If It is KVM stand-alone can you check file permissions on QCOW2 files created by Storware? In other platforms Storware creates snapshots as the user provided as the credentials, so it should not conflict on permissions level with other tools, if only they have sufficient permissions.

Every environment grows in a different way. We decide to give you flexibility of choosing licensing per host (physical machine with to nodes) or virtual machines of protected hypervisor. If you rapidly grow on VM side, per host is better choice for you. However you cannot mix these licensing techniques.

I believe we’re talking about Nutanix case – yes, at least node. Server can be anywhere but needs to be accessible from the node.

In general – yes yum needs Internet to download packages during installation (unless you have all repos you need already in your intranet)

Not too much – just create VM with CentOS 9 minimal for Storware and later define Hypervisor Manager:

Nutanix setup HERE

– You can install both server and node on the same VM

You can enter the credentials for other nodes in the Hypervisors tab. They don’t have to be the same – just make sure they are valid.

Thank you for your interesting in our software. If you have further question don’t hesitate to contact us: support@storware.eu.

Have a great day!

Storware Team.
