Storware License Definitions
- Per VM License
- A license granted per individual virtual machine. Counts the number of machines that have at least one Successful Backup. If the licensed number of virtual machines is exceeded, backup operations for additional virtual machines will not be executed.
- Per VM (PAYG for MSP) License
- A license granted per individual virtual machine. Counts the number of machines that have at least one Successful Backup on any day within a calendar month. This license type is not subject to a fixed usage limit. Each unique backup performed on any day within a given billing period constitutes license consumption and continues to be counted for the duration of its applicable retention period.
- Per Host License
- A license granted per dual-processor server. Counts the number of servers with a virtualization platform installed, connected to the backup server, and having a license assigned. If the licensed number of hosts is exceeded, backup operations for workloads originating from additional hosts will not be executed.
- Per TB (Frontend) License
- A license granted per TiB (unit definition: 1 KB = 1,024 B) of protected environment capacity at the source — based on allocated disk space, not consumed space. Counts the total capacity of all latest full Successful Backups.
- Per TB (Backend – SBA Only) License
- A license granted per TB (unit definition: 1 KB = 1,000 B) of physical backup repository capacity at the target. Counts the total capacity of the Storware Backup Appliance repository. This license permits storing data in the SBA internal repository and creating a secondary data copy to an external object storage repository.
- OS Agent (Desktop/Server) License
- A license granted per physical server or desktop endpoint. Counts the number of servers and desktops with an installed agent connected to the backup server and having a license assigned. If the granted license limit is exceeded, backup of workloads from additional servers or endpoints above the limit will not be executed. This license does not permit backup of network shares or external storage connected to a desktop endpoint.
- OS Agent TB (Frontend) License
- A license granted per TiB (1 KB = 1,024 B) of protected environment capacity at the source. Counts the total capacity of all objects on the source subject to backup. Objects that are removed from the source and reflected as deleted during subsequent backup operations are no longer counted towards license consumption.
- Integration Module
- A license granted per single third-party backup system provider server. Counts the number of connected servers to which Storware Backup and Recovery writes backups.
- V2V
- A license granted per one-time virtual machine migration. Counts the number of successfully completed virtual machine migrations.
- Storware Cloud
- A license granted per TB of backup repository capacity at the target. Counts the total cloud storage capacity used by the customer in the provider’s cloud repository.
- Microsoft 365 SaaS
- A license granted per user, per month. Allows protection and storage of up to 75 GB of data (after deduplication) in the provider’s cloud repository. Any usage exceeding 75 GB may be subject to additional fees or service limitations, as defined in the applicable pricing terms.
“Successful Backup” means a backup operation completed without errors, as recorded by the system.
