AWS S3

Amazon S3 is object storage built to store and retrieve any amount of data from anywhere – backup systems, websites and mobile apps, corporate applications, and data from IoT sensors or devices.

S3 provides security and compliance capabilities that meet regulatory requirements. It also gives flexibility in the way they manage data for cost optimization, access control, and compliance.

S3 provides query-in-place functionality, allowing you to run powerful analytics directly on your data at rest in S3. Amazon S3 is the most supported cloud storage service available, with integration from the largest community of third-party solutions. Combining it with vProtect by Storware makes perfect sense to use both solutions to protect and store data.

Azure Blob Storage

With exabytes of capacity and massive scalability, Blob Storage stores from hundreds to billions of objects in hot, cool, or archive tiers, depending on how often data access is needed. Store any type of unstructured data easily and cost-effectively.

Catalogic DPX

DPX combines an easy-to-use, intuitive management interface with robust backup and recovery capabilities. Our patented block-level protection reduces backup time and impact by 90%, while delivering unprecedented reliability and backup success rates. The DPX software-defined vStor backup repository lets you build your backup targets on any block storage platform to meet your unique performance and capacity requirements.

Ceph

Ceph is a free-software storage platform, implements object storage on a single distributed computer cluster, and provides interfaces for object-, block- and file-level storage. Ceph aims primarily for completely distributed operation without a single point of failure, scalable to the exabyte level, and freely available.

Ceph replicates data and makes it fault-tolerant, using commodity hardware and requiring no specific hardware support. As a result of its design, the system is both self-healing and self-managing, aiming to minimize administration time and other costs.

Dell EMC DataDomain

Dell EMC Data Domain is a backup appliance which reduce the amount of disk storage needed to retain and protect data by ratios of 10-30x and greater. Scale up to 150 PB of logical capacity managed by a single system with DD Cloud Tier. Data Domain systems make possible to complete more backups in less time and provide faster, more reliable restores. The Data Domain Operating System (DD OS) is the intelligence behind Data Domain systems that makes them the industry’s most reliable and cloud-enabled protection storage.

vProtect enhances DD capability of storing backups from different sources.

Dell EMC NetWorker

Dell EMC NetWorker is a backup software platform for the enterprise. NetWorker is designed to back up data from a variety of systems across an organization. The software can create backups of data on SAN, NAS, and DAS systems as well as physical and virtual servers to a variety of backup targets including tape drives and libraries, virtual tape libraries, disk arrays, deduplicating disk systems, and cloud storage. To increase the number of hypervisors you can backup with NetWorker we integrated it with vProtect.

ExaGrid

ExaGrid provides the best level of data deduplication and has implemented data deduplication in a way that provides 6X the backup performance and up to 20X the restore and VM boot performance of other approaches. ExaGrid has a unique landing zone where backups can land straight to disk without any inline deduplication processing. Backups are fast and the backup window is short. Deduplication and offsite replication occur in parallel with the backups and never impede the backup process as they are always second order priority.

FileSystem / NFS / iSCSI / VDO

A file system is the most flexible and simplest to implement kind of storage. Given the fact, that you can mount most of the remote or local types of storage as a file system, you can easily use vProtect as a stand-alone solution. To boost the backup process, you also can use the same file system both as a staging-space and a backup destination, which allows you to write data once directly to the target location. And if the storage space is limited, vProtect can use a deduplicated file system such as VDO or DD-Boost FS plugin.

Google Cloud Storage

With infinite capacity, Google Cloud Storage allows you to store data safely and cost-efficiently (with available storage tiers). With vProtect you can store your application or VM backups like in any other backup provider completely transparently.

IBM Cloud Object Storage

IBM Cloud Object Storage is a highly scalable cloud storage service, designed for high durability, resiliency and security. Store, manage and access your data via our self-service portal and RESTful APIs. Connect applications directly to Cloud Object Storage use other IBM Cloud Services with your data.

Features:

  • Storage for the IBM Cloud
  • Built-in Aspera high-speed transfer
  • Storage Classes and Archive Policy
  • Access and Key Management

IBM Spectrum Protect

The IBM Spectrum Protect™ server and backup-archive client provide automated, centrally scheduled, policy-managed backup and archive capabilities for file servers and workstations. For customized, application-aware protection for virtual environments and core business applications, explore the related IBM Spectrum Protect products like IBM Spectrum Protect Plus.
Both solutions are integrated with vProtect to provide a powerful solution for many additional platforms.

Neverfail HybriStor

HybriStor delivers everything needed in a secondary storage appliance, including deduplication across sites, replication to multiple sites and WAN optimization between sites. This appliance can globally dedupe your data by rates of up to 30x – moving your backup, archive and recovery data off expensive primary storage and onto high-performance, low-cost secondary storage. With vProtect and HybriStor you can build an innovative solution to store and backup your data.

OpenStack SWIFT

The OpenStack Object Store project, known as Swift, offers cloud storage software so that you can store and retrieve lots of data with a simple API. It is a highly available, distributed, eventually consistent object/blob store. It’s built for scale and optimized for durability, availability, and concurrency across the entire data set. Swift is ideal for storing unstructured data that can grow without bound. Organizations can use Swift to store their backups from open hypervisors like KVM distributions, Xen, Citrix Xen or new on the market as Nutanix. That is possible due to integration with vProtect by Storware who opens the gate to backup seven different open hypervisors.

Veritas NetBackup

Veritas NetBackup has been created as data is growing rapidly and becoming more fragmented across many clouds and virtual environments. Unified data protection is the only way your IT organization can deliver required Service Levels while limiting cost and risk, regardless of whether data resides on-premises or in the cloud. NetBackup eliminates the complexity of point solutions and infrastructure management, and scales gracefully to mitigate spiraling storage costs and expand into the cloud. It is also delivered as-a-service to streamline operations and improve Service Levels. Adding vProtect to your NetBackup environment allows you to expand the number of hypervisors you can protect.

Smart management

vProtect could be a good place for centralizing backup process configuration and logic of all VMs or apps regardless of the hypervisor or backup provider. If you add 100th MySQL – it could follow the same settings as previous 99 already configured.

No vendor lock-in

vProtect is a single platform that is able to backup multiple virtualization platforms to multiple backup providers. So there is no vendor lock-in. If you need to migrate VMs to the different hypervisor, you still can use the same tool to back them up. With backup providers situation remains the same – if you would like to replace enterprise-grade backup provider with a plain file system – you still may have an option to backup your applications – just select a different target in UI.

Near-zero recovery time

Due to the features of most modern backup software – which include snapshot management, data recovery elements, cloud support, VM protection – backups can do so much more than simply restoring data in the event of a storage or server failure. Using snapshot based backup strategy, one can quickly backup not only data but also configuration of the running virtual machines.
