Discover what’s new in Storware Backup & Recovery 7.4—Storware Cloud, faster backups, broader platform support, and stronger data resilience

Storware Releases Backup and Recovery v7.4 —Delivering significant advancements in cloud storage, platform performance, and enterprise workload protection.

Storware 7.4 – what’s new?

Introducing Storware Cloud – Simplified Backup Storage with Cost Savings

The highlight of this release is Storware Cloud, a new storage offering designed to reduce complexity and lower backup costs. Recommended as a secondary backup destination, Storware Cloud provides flexible storage tiers tailored to customer needs:

  • Tier 1 powered by N-able
  • Tier 2 powered by Vawlt
  • Tier 3 powered by Seagate

Storware Cloud can also serve as secondary storage for the Storware Backup Appliance (SBA), including the newly introduced SBA 1010 and SBA 1010E models.

Enhanced Platform Integrations and Performance Improvements

VergeOS – Optimized sparsification in store tasks and the ability to override NAS configurations at the hypervisor level improve load balancing and significantly reduce backup times.

OpenShift – Backup processes are now faster and more efficient thanks to resource adjustments for the helper pod, reduced staging space requirements, checksum computation optimizations, and direct metadata transfer to nodes.

OpenStack – A new transfer module centralizes all transfer activities, with disk attachment as the first supported strategy. Storware also introduces a Skyline console plugin and extends support to the Dalmatian release and RHOSO 18.

Microsoft Hyper-V & OS Agent – The Hyper-V path browser now allows access to hidden files, while performance has been significantly boosted for OS agent Protected Data when processing very large file and folder sets.

Storware Backup & Recovery 7.4 also includes a range of fixes and optimizations, including a Quarkus server update to 3.x for OSA & Microsoft 365 integrations, ensuring higher reliability and performance.

Storware 7.4 high level architecture:
