PNT Data Center, a green data center certified with a Rated 3 rating, was established in 2019 and covers approximately 500 square meters. It is equipped with the necessary power supply, air conditioning, access protection, and round-the-clock monitoring through a dedicated management system. The Data Center Park has access to a WAN and LAN fiber optic network with a data transmission capacity of up to 10Gbit/s, two power lines from two separate points, and 24/7/365 monitoring and support. Currently, 96 server racks are allocated for server collocation. It is the first in Poland to receive a Rated 3 certification in accordance with ANSI/TIA 942, which confirms high standards of security, reliability, and availability of 99.982%.

To meet the demands of modern business, the client offers data center outsourcing services, including server collocation, dedicated space rental, and infrastructure rental. This helps to reduce investment costs while also accommodating the client’s individual needs while maintaining the highest standards of security.

Solution

After demanding tests, PNT Data Center chose the Storware Backup and Recovery solution because it meets all requirements for flexible and reliable backup creation and provides a wide range of features, such as deduplication, application recovery, and centralized management. Additionally, Storware offers many backup strategies. Because it supports the latest version of oVirt and successfully utilizes its features, such as CBT, it provides up to five backup creation strategies: export storage domain (API v3), Proxy VM (snapshot-disk attach, API v4), snapshot-chains (disk image transfer from hypervisor manager, API v4.2+), and more.

The client conducted tests of all available backup strategies to select the most optimal one in the desired configuration. The process using Changed Block Tracking (CBT) with VDO deduplication turned out to be the most effective.

Not without significance was the fact that Storware Backup and Recovery offers excellent support for environments based on Red Hat Virtualization, which is confirmed by compatibility certificates. What’s more, it meets the security requirements of stored data (encryption) and is economical in terms of the use of disk memory.

For RHV environments, Storware now supports Instant Restore. Moreover, you can optionally initiate a live migration after the selected VM has started.
