Jantar Sp. z o.o. is an integrator of IT solutions. The company has been on the market for nearly 30 years. It specializes in providing a wide range of services, hardware, and software for sales and automatic identification systems based on barcodes and RFID. The company offers business solutions for commerce, logistics, industry, and the public sector. Their brands: Jservices, Jsoftware, and Jlabels
Business Challenge
The client was looking for a solution to centralize backup processes for virtual machines, file/database copies, and secure data on client computers (laptops/workstations). In addition, the client wanted to integrate it with its current infrastructure based on the IBM Spectrum Protect.
The data to be protected resided in a virtual environment of about 45 hosts, plus data on the end devices of about 60 users.
The previously used solution was created based on the SEP Sezam application, requiring specialist knowledge and considerable involvement in creating advanced scripts for the Linux and Windows platforms.
The customer’s requirements for the new solution had to do with its reliability, the speed of backup, and the ease of automation of these processes. Further requirements were security considerations – administrator rights and control restrictions where required, analysis and reporting of tasks performed.
Storware Solution
The Storware family of solutions has provided a uniform and convenient way to perform and manage backups of virtual machines, business files and databases.
It improved the efficiency of the entire infrastructure in three areas: data backup, Disaster Recovery, and testing. Consequently, this has positively impacted the number of incidents involving missing or incorrect copies being made.
With the implementation of KODO, the data security management system for end-users has been centralized. Additionally, the ability for users to handle the data restore process has resulted in less involvement of IT administrators.
